Volunteer Opportunities
Since the excitement of Registry Week we have been working hard to secure housing, raise services dollars and build a coordinated case management program – all designed to best serve our clients to end the cycle of homelessness. Check out our volunteer opportunities and see how you can get involved:
Surveying
One of our campaign goals is to know every homeless person’s name and face by 2013. We need volunteers to conduct Housing 1000 surveys at locations that serve homeless clients. Surveying generally takes place in the late afternoon and lasts for two hours. Volunteers must be 18+ and will need to attend a survey training prior to volunteering, respect and maintain the confidentiality of the individuals surveyed, and complete surveys accurately. If you are interested in surveying, please sign-up below and register for an upcoming training.
Hosting Donation Drives
Through Housing 1000, clients are ending their homelessness and moving in to places of their own! A team of volunteers is assembling move-in kits with kitchen supplies, bedding, and other items to truly make the client feel at home. Would you consider hosting a donation drive of these items at your place of work, church, or school for move-in kits? We will arrange to pick up items that are collected.
HousingONE Champions
Our HousingONE.org website features personal stories of homeless clients that have been surveyed through Housing 1000 and are now participating in our Care Coordination Project. The people featured on this website are on the verge of ending their homelessness and moving in to places of their own. HousingONE.org collects donations that are used to purchase used furniture and essential items for their homes, such as kitchen utensils and bedding. We need volunteers to raise awareness of HousingONE.org and encourage their networks to participate in this creative crowdfunding website.
You can also Join Our Story! by organizing opportunities for others to give. Instead of birthday presents, ask your friends and family to give gifts through HousingONE.org in your honor.
